Jinkx Monsoon Is A “Broadway Baby,” May Be Heading To The Great White Way And “Hedwig”

Jinkx Monsoon keeps inching her way closer to Broadway. Above, the reigning Drag Race winner performs “Broadway Baby” from Follies at Broadway Sessions on Halloween night at the Laurie Beechman Theater, where her wildly successful off-Broadway show, the Vaudevillians, just wrapped an extended run.

But America’s favorite narcoleptic Jewish housewife might find herself on the legit Broadway stage in the not-too-distant future: John Cameron Mitchel and Stephen Trask, the creators of the rock musical Hedwig, and Neil Patrick Harris—who will be starring in a Broadway revival of the show next year—were recently spotted taking in The Vaudevillians and kiking with Jinkxsy.

Folks in the know are speculating Jinkx might be tapped to take over the lead role when NPH finishes his run. After all, Jinkx has played Hedwig before—and will again, next month at Seattle’s Moore Theater.

If you’re having trouble imagining Jinkx as an East German trans woman looking for love and fame in America, ace photographer Nate Gowdy has graciously provided photos from Jinkx’s last Hedwig run. Enjoy!
