At last year’s San Diego Comic Con fans got a sneak peek of the new season of the Cartoon Network series Steven Universe. In the preview, attendees saw Steven return to his homeworld to save his friends, and meet a new gem: Emerald.

After some detective work, fans discovered that Emerald was voiced by Steven Universe superfan, Jinkx Monsoon!
It’s official! I voiced Emerald in one of my favorite shows: Steven Universe! Gigantic thanks to @rebeccasugar who gave me this chance and made my dreams come true! Here’s hoping this is the beginning of a wonderful love affair with @cartoonnetwork pic.twitter.com/1PI2XlYnW3

The Drag Race Season 5 winner had been begging Steven Universe creator Rebecca Sugar to be on the show, and would even sing the theme song at her live shows. Jinkx’s episode introducing Emerald finally aired this past weekend, and fans couldn’t be happier with finally hearing Seattle’s favorite narcoleptic drag queen make her intergalactic debut.
It was a double episode on Sunday, but Emerald only appeared in the first one. Will Jinkx make another appearance? That’s uncertain at this time, but Sugar says there are no “filler episodes or characters,” so hopefully this isn’t the last time we see Emerald.
