Joe Manganiello is looking fine as hell at the helm of a motorcycle, taking the one-and-only Pee-wee Herman for a ride around set this week.
The certified daddy of Magic Mike and True Blood fame will be joining the cast of Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, a film Pee-wee actor Paul Reubens admits is “very similar in style to Pee-wee’s Big Adventure,” which is to say it’s not exactly family or kid-friendly.
In an announcement on his blog yesterday, Pee-wee wrote:
Joe’s already my friend in real life– and he’s tremendously talented and a terrific person! I am so glad we are FINALLY going to get to work together! This totally makes up for being cut out of ‘Magic Mike’ and ‘Magic Mike 2’!”
Details of the film, which is due for an exclusive release on Netflix, are scarce. Its brief description reads: “A fateful meeting with a mysterious stranger inspires Pee-wee Herman to take his first ever holiday and the journey of a lifetime in this epic story of friendship and destiny.”
“Paul Reubens is one of the great comic geniuses of our time,” Manganiello added. “Growing up, my Saturday mornings were all about Pee-wee Herman. I saw everything he did. I can’t believe that I’m going to get to share scenes with one of the iconic figures of my childhood.”
Good god. We’re brining an extra pair of underwear to the theater.
