Today is Spirit Day, when millions of people wear purple to stand in solidarity with LGBT youth. Above, Davey Wavey talks about the importance of the campaign, which was launched in 2010 by high-school student Brittany McMillan, as a way to remember the young people who had been lost to suicide and anti-gay bullying.

Since then, organizations, companies and individuals around the world have joined the cause. This year Oprah Winfrey, Ryan Lewis and Macklemore, Betty White and the cast of Hot in Cleveland, and Ke$ha are wearing purple, as are the casts of Good Morning America, Today Show The View, The Talk, Jimmy Kimmel and Wendy Williams. 

Major League Baseball teams are turning their Twitter accounts purple and will air PSAs about Spirit Day during games today.

Logo has gone grape today, too: The Logo icon will be purple on the channel, with crawls explaining the campaign. Additionally, we'll be posting photos of the staff wearing their colors throughout the day on NewNowNext, Facebook and tumblr.

If you haven't dressed for Spirit Day, there's still time to run out and get a purple tie or tee shirt. (Hey, purple socks are pretty cool too.)
