Jon Stewart Leaving The Daily Show, Comedy Central Confirms

The late-night game of musical chairs has claimed another victim, as Jon Stewart announced he was stepping down as host of The Daily Show.

Stewart reportedly mentioned his retirement from the post during today's taping. Later, Comedy Central sent out an official statement confirming the news, thanking him for years of service and announcing that Stewart will remain with The Daily Show until later this year.

Stewart might be looking to leave television altogether: His directorial debut, Rosewater, has received critical acclaim.  The 52-year-old comedian follows Stephen Colbert, who left the Colbert Report in December.
