Jonathan Groff Is On The Hunt For Serial Killers In The Trailer For "Mindhunter"

"Looking" this is not.

He's gone from Looking to looking for murderers.

The first full trailer for Mindhunter, starring Jonathan Groff, is out and move over Dana Scully because we have a new FBI special agent fave.

Based on the true crime novel, Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit by John Douglas and Mark Olshaker, the book follows special agent Douglas as he profiles some of the country’s most infamous serial killers including Charles Manson and Ted Bundy.

The series is from director David Fincher (Zodiac, Seven), who serves as executive producer and will direct the first three episodes of the season, (this is his return to Netflix after bringing House of Cards to the streaming giant). Charlize Theron is also executive producing the series.

The creepy trailer opens with a man telling Groff's character: "It's not easy butchering people. Mentally and physically it's hard work." Looking this is not. The preview follows Groff as he interviews convicted killers, walks the halls of the FBI and coins the phrase "serial killer."

"You want truffles? you gotta get in the dirt with the pigs," he says.

We probably won't get to hear Groff belt his pipes in a Mindhunter musical episode, but it's nice that the actor is getting leading man roles outside of Looking and Glee.

The 10-episode first season drops on Netflix October 13, just in time for you to binge it all before Halloween (and Stranger Things 2).
