Joni Mitchell Nixed Biopic With Taylor Swift: "All You've Got Is A Girl With High Cheekbones"

Taylor Swift may be on top of the charts, but she's hardly number one with Joni Mitchell.

The "Blank Space" singer was in talks to play the music legend in an adaptation of Sheila Weller's book Girls Like Us, which recounts Mitchell, Carol King and Carly Simon's impact on music. But Mitchell said she'd never, ever, ever, let it happen.

"I squelched that," Mitchell told The Sunday Times. "I said to the producer, 'All you've got is a girl with high cheekbones.' It's just a lot of gossip, you don't have the great scenes."

Mitchell also poo-pooed Weller's book, saying it contained "a lot of nonsense about me... assumptions, assumptions, assumptions."

Eight Men Out screenwriter John Sayles was hired to pen a script for Girls Like Us, with Kate Jacobs directing and Alison Pill (The Newsroom) playing Carole King.

We're curious who they would have gotten for Carly Simon. Any suggestions?
