Judy Garland Finally Interred In L.A.'s Hollywood Forever Cemetery
Judy Garland has been laid to rest in the mausoleum named after her in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
A spokesperson for the Garland estate said family and close friends gathered for a private memorial service at the cemetery this Saturday on what would've been the legend's 95th birthday.
Garland's remains were transferred to Hollywood from their original resting place in New York City upon the request of her children Liza Minnelli, Lorna Luft and Joe Luft. Earlier this year, the trio said moving her to the larger plot in California would allow for her children and grandchildren to be buried next to her.
In a statement released to the Associated Press this weekend, the late singer's children thanked their mother's "millions of fans around the world for their constant love and support."
Garland joins many other famous names buried at the cemetery, including Jayne Mansfield, Douglas Fairbanks, Rudolph Valentino and Cecil B. DeMille.
The icon, best known for her role in The Wizard of Oz, died at age 47 from an accidental barbiturate overdose in 1969.
