Insecure Empire: Jussie Smollett And Issa Rae Team Up On Provocative New Web Series

“Giants” explores mental health, sexuality, police brutality and other hot-button issues.

While you patiently wait for new episodes of Empire and HBO's latest breakout hit, Insecure the stars of those shows are producing a new buzzworthy digital series.

Jussie Smollett (Empire) and Issa Rae (Insecure) will executive produce Giants, a series that "depicts the story and struggle of three black millennials ― Malachi, Journee and Ade ― who are nearing 30 and having a hard time getting it together."

“Giants” explores themes of mental health, sexuality, police brutality and other hot-button issues. The series stars James Bland, who is also the writer, creator and director of the project.

In a press release Bland said that the show “explores social issues that are either ignored or stigmatized by the black community. And regardless of race, these characters’ experiences are relatable to almost anyone because they learn the hard way that when life kicks your ass, you either lie down or fight back.”

The show was financed by a successful Indiegogo campaign and will consist of six 20-minute episodes.
