Justin Bieber Donates $545,000 To AIDS Reseach At Cannes AmfAR Gala: PHOTOS
Justin Bieber has a reputation for being bratty, but the 20-year-old pop star just made a very grownup donation to Americans for AIDS Research: Bieber donated $545,000 towards HIV research at the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala in Cannes Thursday night.
The Canadian star, who was matching another guest's donation, was in town for the legendary Cannes Film Festival.
In all the gala at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc raised $35 million, with $15 million coming from the auction of a gilded mammoth skeleton by artist Damian Hirst. Former French First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy helped auction off a Bulgari ‘Serpenti’ necklace made of white gold with aquamarine and diamonds for $550,000. A Red Collection fashion show curated by Carine Roitfeld featured one-of-a-kind scarlet outfits, the sale of which netted another $5 million. And a trip into space on the Virgin Galactic spaceship—with Leonardo DiCaprio as your seatmate—went for $1 million.
Other celebrities in attendance included amfAR Fundraising chairperson Sharon Stone, John Travolta, Kelly Preston, Conchita Wurst, Robin Thicke, Lana Del Rey, Adrien Brody, Jessica Chastain, Sofia Coppola, Marion Cotillard, Willem Dafoe, Rosario Dawson, Catherine Deneuve, Luke Evans, Jane Fonda, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Karlie Kloss, Kellan Lutz, Kylie Minogue, Chris Tucker, Paz Vega and Dita Von Teese.
