Kanye West and Kim Kardashian Meet With Uganda's Anti-LGBTQ President

Now he has met with two anti-LGBTQ presidents.

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian met with the anti-LGBTQ President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, presenting him with an autographed pair of Yeezy shoes.

West said he and his wife were not there "to take a photograph and look like they were doing something positive," but instead to "be here and work with you." While it is unclear what that work would look like, he said he wanted Uganda to look like Jurassic Park, Disney World, and Wakanda, the fictional African country created by Marvel Comics for Black Panther.

Museveni gave both of his visitors Ugandan names: "Kanyesigye" for Kanye, meaning "I trust," and "Kemigisha" for Kim, meaning "the one with blessings from God," the BBC reports.

In addition to ending term limits and cracking down on political opposition, leading many to consider him a virtual dictator, Museveni signed a law making gay sex punishable by life in prison, and has called gay people "disgusting."

The bill he signed into law was later struck down by the Constitutional Court of Uganda, but consensual sex between two men is still punishable by up to seven years in prison.

The Ugandan president tweeted his thanks for the shoes and said he "held fruitful discussions with the duo on how to promote Uganda's tourism and the arts."

West's meeting with Museveni follows his infamous White House visit, alongside former athlete and actor Jim Brown, where West told Trump he loved him, gave him a hug, said his male energy inspired him, said the Make America Great Again hat was like his Superman cape, and suggested building Trump branded factories with "Yeezy ideation centers."

Kardashian has also met with Trump, advocating for the release of Alice Johnson, who was arrested in 1996 on drug trafficking charges. She was sentenced to life in prison but was granted clemency by the president and released on parole.
