Todd Haynes' Carol was one of the most beautiful and atmospheric films of the year. But when Kate McKinnon plays Cate Blanchett as the unhappily married lesbian socialite, it takes quite a different turn.

McKinnon and Kumail Nanjiani performed the sketch for the Independent Spirit Awards, which they hosted last night.

While neither Blanchett nor Rooney Mara took home awards, Tangerine's Mya Taylor won Best Supporting Female.
