Anderson Cooper better find a new co-host.
CNN announced today that it was cutting ties with comedian Kathy Griffin after she released an offensive photo holding a fake decapitated head of Donald Trump.

Griffin’s contract with the cable news net has been terminated effective immediately. The comedian has hosted the popular New Year’s Eve program with Cooper since 2007.

Griffin released the Trump photo on Tuesday and the severe backlash was almost immediate. She eventually took down the picture and filmed an apology “begging” for the public’s forgiveness. “I went too far. I made a mistake and I was wrong,” she said in her video.

On Wednesday morning Trump tweeted about the photo saying that Griffin should be ashamed of herself. He also added that his youngest son Barron was “having a real hard time with this.”
Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself. My children, especially my 11 year old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick!

Other members of Trump’s family including his wife Melania and his son, Donald Trump Jr., also commented on the poor taste of the photo.
Disgusting but not surprising. This is the left today. They consider this acceptable. Imagine a conservative did this to Obama as POTUS? https://t.co/QdghcbIjS7

Even Griffin’s New Year’s co-host, Cooper, tweeted that he was “appalled” by the picture calling it “clearly disgusting.” Chelsea Clinton said that it was “vile and wrong.”
For the record, I am appalled by the photo shoot Kathy Griffin took part in. It is clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate.

CNN is just the latest gig Griffin has lost over the photo. Squatty Potty toilet stools and Unicorn Gold bathroom products said it would be suspending a new ad campaign starring the comedian.
“We were shocked and disappointed to learn about the image Ms. Griffin shared today,” said Squatty Potty chief executive Bobby Edwards in a statement. “It was deeply inappropriate and runs contrary to the core values our company stands for.”
Cooper will have to get a new co-host for his New Year’s Eve broadcast—maybe Kelly Ripa is free?
