Kathy Griffin: Donald Trump Is “Personally Trying To Ruin My Life Forever”

"I don't think I'll have a career over this. He broke me."

“I’m not afraid of Donald Trump. He’s a bully.”

Those were Kathy Griffin’s remarks when she held a press conference in L.A. today with attorney Lisa Bloom to speak out about her offensive Donald Trump photo that sparked a backlash this week—and resulted in her contract being terminated at CNN.

The 56-year-old comedian addressed the room of reporters, and even though she stated that the apology she made earlier this week “still stands,” she does think that Trump is targeting her.

“A sitting president of the United States and his grown children and the first lady are personally trying to ruin my life forever,” Griffin said.

The emotional 30-minute press conference included remarks from Bloom and from Griffin as she held back tears while apologizing for the picture. She also promised that she will not stop poking fun at the president.

“I’m going to make fun of the president, and I’m going to make fun of him more now,” she told the reporters. “I’m under a Secret Service investigation, and I get what I am. I’m the shiny object. I’m the shiny object so that nobody’s talking about his FBI investigation.”

“I don’t think I’ll have a career after this. He broke me.”

The former My Life on the D-List star spoke about how the death threats she has been receiving online are “constant, detailed and specific.”

When a reporter asked how many jobs she’s lost since the photo Griffin named five, including the New Year’s Eve hosting gig on CNN—and that she had not spoken to her co-host Anderson Cooper since the photo backlash.

Griffin said that she feels she is being targeted by Trump, but promises that she was not going to give up. “I’m not laying down for this guy.”

“The president of all people is going to come after me? He picked the wrong redhead.”
