Awards Show Producers Take Blame For Katy Perry's "Lip-Sync" Malfunction: WATCH

Having been educated by many seasons of RuPaul's Drag Race, we might be more appreciative of a good lip-sync than the host of the recent NRJ Music Awards was. When he caught Katy Perry poorly mouthing along to "Roar" during a live performance at the show, held in Cannes, France, he could have made her sashay away.

Instead, he took matters in to his own hands and forced the cat-eared starlet to start over.

“If you don’t mind, we can restart. We had a little problem with the sound," said the host, interrupting her.  Sure, sound problem.  "I’m sorry to stop all your energy — I prefer you to be the best.”  Despite a sour face during her not-so-subtle scolding, Katy started over and turned it out.

On Tuesday, the NRJ Awards took the blame for the snafu: ”Katy Perry sang live during the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes on Saturday night, but unfortunately a bad soundtrack was accidentally launched, taking over the live performance of Katy at the beginning of the delivery tube of the ‘Roar,’” producers revealed in a statement. “TF1 and NRJ present their apologies to Katy Perry… for this technical problem beyond our control.”
