Kelis' 'Acapella' Video Brings Out The Headdresses, Body Paint, and Flower Costumes

As Kelis was sitting at home, spending another quiet afternoon playing Bubble Spinner on her computer, she suddenly had an idea…

Kelis’ music video for her new single, ‘Acapella,’ premiered today, and it’s like the best disco at the Museum of Natural History ever. The ‘Warrior Queen’ wing has definitely been raided, you guys.

It starts off with Queen Kelis crowning herself with the ceremonial headdress of the glitter tribe, and starts flashing images of her in this eye mask/discarded prop from an Eyes Wide Shut sequel directed by Johnny Weir. LOVE IT.

Kelis then goes a-hunting with a bow, arrow, and headphones, and keeps singing “before you my whole life was acapella.” You think this is about some new Warrior King she’s found, but at the end she turns around and it’s all SURPRISE BABY.

Is Kelis singing about getting pregnant and having to quit her college extra-curriculars or a steamy new love interest? You decide. Either way, her new album, “Flesh Tone,” is being released this coming summer.
