Gotham is awash in action movies, comic books and video games this weekend as the city hosts the 2013 New York Comic Con, an annual pop-culture panoply that welcomes boldface names in town to promote their blockbuster films and TV shows.

One such star is Kellan Lutz, who is giving today's attendees a sneak peek at his upcoming 3-D masterpiece, Hercules: The Legend Begins, co-starring Spartacus hunk Liam McIntyre and ex-model Jonathan Schaech. (The film's cast will also be on hand to sign autographs and, we hope, body parts.)

Honestly, we sort of wrote Lutz off as a one-trick pony (vampire bat?) but he keeps impressing us. Hercules isn't August Osage County but it looks like good popcorn fare and Lutz is obviously in peak condition. But not too peak, says the blond bohunk: “Renny [Harlin's] like, 'Kellan, I don’t want you getting bigger. Just get your abs to pop more,'” he told interviewers.

Lutz will need all the help he can get, what with a rival Herc movie also coming out in 2014: Brett Ratner's Hercules: The Thracian Wars, starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as an older demigod, alongside Ian McShane,  Joseph Fiennes, and John Hurt.

Lutz's Herc hits theaters in March 2014, while Ratner's flick is being released in July. Which will win the battle of the titans? Who cares—you're gonna see them both!
