Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough of "Footloose" on Bad Line Dancing and Being Zero Degrees of Kevin Bacon!
Kenny
Wormald and Julianne Hough get to grindin' in the newFootloose
In
1984, Footloose gave us reason to kick off our Sunday shoes, do angry
warehouse dances, and, of course, "cut loose." Now, in 2011, we get
the chance to relive the magic.
Naysayers
of this redux should beware -- the movie about a boy named Ren McCormack who
goes on a crusade to legalize dancing in the the small, danceless town of
Bomont is actually entertaining and "modern" (meaning more booty
poplin'). We have director Craig Brewer (Hustle and Flow, Black Snake Moan) to
thank for that.
In
the lead role of the city-turned-country boy Ren, newcomer Kenny Wormald takes the place of Kevin Bacon, while dancer-turned-actress Julianne Hough tackles the role of Ariel; the rebellious preacher's
daughter and Ren's love interest originated by Lori Singer.
We
had the opportunity to talk with the dancing duo about tackling such an iconic
movie as well as their opinion about the worst line dance ever created.
Footloose opens this Friday.
