Kesha Did “Bad Kid Things” as a Teen With This “Drag Race” Queen

"She's my queen."

But did they brush their teeth together with a bottle of Jack?

Kesha, this week’s Billboard cover girl, took a break from the farm-fresh fantasy of her outdoor photo shoot to play “Fishing for Answers,” responding to random questions she pulled out of a fishbowl.

So who’s her favorite queen from RuPaul’s Drag Race?

“That’s really hard, because everyone’s a winner in my book, especially anyone on RuPaul’s Drag Race,” the 32-year-old former guest judge replies. “But a good dear, dear friend of mine is Detox, and we used to hang out when I was like 18 and do bad, bad kid things. So she’s my queen.”

The Billboard clip’s closed captioning weirdly clocks Kesha as saying “bad cute things,” but you know there was nothing cute about those crazy nights.

Fun fact: In 2010 Detox appeared in music videos for Kesha’s “Backstabber,” “Take It Off,” and “Sleazy.” The Season 5 and All Stars 2 queen also performed earlier this year on the pop star’s Weird & Wonderful Rainbow Ride cruise.

While fishing, Kesha also reveals her love for Lizzo, whom she calls “the shit,” and out emerging artist Wrabel, her “best friend.”

The staunch LGBTQ ally tells Billboard that her fourth studio album is due out this December, two years after the release of her acclaimed comeback album, Rainbow, which was famously delayed due to her ongoing legal disputes with former producer Dr. Luke.

“I dug through the emotional wreckage, and now I can go back to talking a little bit of shit,” she says of a return to her earlier pop sound. “I don’t know if this is my last pop record, but I want to have one where I go out with a bang.”
