Kesha has blessed us with another religion-themed pop track, and its music video is taking us to church.
In the accompanying video for her single “Raising Hell” ft. Big Freedia, the “Praying” singer adopts a new persona as the voluptuous, blond wig-wearing female face of a Joel Osteen-style televised mega-church. The colorful visuals, courtesy of director Luke Gilford, are nothing short of stunning. (Yes, that includes the wigs.)

However, all is not as it seems for this televangelist. In behind-the-scenes shots, “Raising Hell” viewers get a glimpse of Kesha’s character’s nasty husband, a preacher whose emotional neglect, verbal altercations, and physical abuse make her life an actual hell.
But Kesha can only withstand so much abuse.
In one memorable scene, a lingerie-clad Kesha takes matters into her own hand, killing her partner in an act of self-defense—and changing up her pristine, good-girl appearance in an attempt to escape the mess entirely. Can we get an “Amen” for that drama?!
