Kim Cattrall On “Sex And The City” Co-Stars: “We’ve Never Been Friends”

"In some ways it’s a very healthy place to be."

First we were saddened to hear the news that there would be no third Sex and the City movie, but now Kim Cattrall is destroying all of our SATC fantasies by revealing she wasn’t close with the other actresses while they were sipping cosmos on the set of the original series.

Cattrall recently sat down with Piers Morgan on his iTV series, Life Stories, where they discussed her career, and he said he couldn’t end the interview without asking if there would be more Sex and the City.

“Not for me,” she replied. “I feel the show was the best when it was the series, and the bonus was the two movies.”

Yeah, we wish we could erase Sex and the City 2 from our minds too, but that’s no reason not to go back and give the characters a proper sendoff.

According to The Daily Mail, pre-production for Sex and the City 3 was about to begin, with filming scheduled to start this fall in New York. The Daily Mail also reports that the reason production for the movie has been stalled is because Cattrall demanded the movie’s studio, produce other projects she had in development, or she wouldn’t sign on for another installment of the beloved series.

But Cattrall claims that those reports about her demands are untrue and she told the SATC crew last year that she would not be returning to play Samantha Jones.

“I remember so clearly making that decision. Last December I got a phone call and it was concerning that and I knew exactly, I could feel it, and the answer was simply, ‘Thank you but no, I’m good,'” she told Morgan.

“This isnt about more money it’s not about more scenes, it’s not about any of those things. This is about a clear decision, an empowered decision in my life to end one chapter and start another. I’m 61, it’s now.”

Morgan, couldn’t leave it at that, so he asked Cattrall if she is friends with her Sex and the City co-stars:

“We’ve never been friends. We’ve been colleagues and in some ways it’s a very healthy place to be.”

It’s one thing to kill Sex and the City 3, it’s another to tear apart the dream we have had all of these years of Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Cattrall all hanging out and being friends like their characters even when the cameras weren’t rolling.

Cattrall went on to suggest another actress could play Samantha, and she wishes the cast and crew “the best.”

“I’ll be the one in the audience cheering them on,” she added.

We get that she needs to tell her side of the story, but instead of ruining our Sex and the City fantasies couldn’t Cattrall just pull a Berger and leave a Post-It when asked about a third movie?
