Kim Kardashian is not someone we associate with LGBT rights, but the reality star did right by us gays today when her "surprise" bridal shower was moved out of the Beverly Hills Hotel because its owner, Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah, has instituted death by stoning as the punishment for homosexuality.

Kardashian is set to marry babydaddy Kanye West on May 24 and Mama Kris Jenner and sisters Khloe and Kourtney Kardashion were planning to host Kim's shower at the landmark hotel, reports E! Online. but the K Klan opted for a different venue when they heard of the Sultan's edict.

The cancellation is the latest in a string of celebrity protests against the hotel and other properties owned by the sultan's Dorchester Collection.  Ellen DeGeneres, Sharon Osborne, Richard Branson, Jay Leno and Yves Saint Laurent company have publicly called for a boycott.

This week alone, reports Vogue, the Dorchester Collection has lost $2 million in revenue due to 20 canceled events.
