Elle Woods Should Sue Kim K. for This Cringe-y "Legally Blonde" Tribute

What, like Reese Witherspoon's spot-on acting is hard?

Nobody asked for Kim Kardashian-West's rendition of Elle Woods' iconic Harvard University video essay, but we all got it anyway.

Yesterday afternoon, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star broke Twitter (and countless hearts) with her Halloween costume: Woods, the sorority girl-turned-law-student protagonist from the hit film Legally Blonde, whom she portrayed in a filmed homage to the character's hilarious video essay application to Harvard Law School.

While Reese Witherspoon's monologue from the 2001 flick is the stuff of legends, Kim's is… well, it's something.

Should Elle Woods consider suing for defamation? Yep. But don't take it from us. Take it from the legions of Twitter users who sounded off in replies to the KUWTK star:

Another tweeter aptly pointed out that Kim is indeed studying to take the California state bar exam and become a certified attorney, sans the formal law school education most lawyers obtain.

As of this writing, Kim's Legally Blonde tribute has a whopping 372,000 likes and almost 84,000 retweets, so clearly someone is feelin' it.

It's worth noting that Legally Blonde screenwriter Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith—also the mind behind Netflix's queer teen drama Trinketsgave Kim K. her seal of approval on Twitter.

This is the second time in about two years that a celeb has leaned into Legally Blonde's enduring appeal. Who could forget when pop star Ariana Grande included OG Legally Blonde star Jennifer Coolidge in her adorable "Thank U, Next" video?

Luckily, there is a happy ending to this whole fiasco: Witherspoon, who confirmed back in 2018 that a third installment of the beloved movie franchise is in the works, has seen Kim's tribute and doesn't hate it. Or at least she's keeping things diplomatic.

Okay, if it's good enough for Reese… well, we'll bend and snap to that.
