Charlie Hunnam's Arthur Is A Back-Alley Brawler In "King Arthur: Legend of the Sword" Trailer

Guy Ritchie directs the latest version of the Camelot tale.

Charlie Hunnam plays the legendary ruler of England in Guy Ritchie's King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, the trailer for which was launched at San Diego Comic-Con.

But he's not the Camelot tale we're used to: This Arthur is a street rat and a brawler, denied his birthright by his villainous uncle Vortigern (Jude Law). Pulling the sword from the stone, however, forces Arthur to confront his destiny and fight for the kingdom.

In addition to Hunnam and Law, Legend of the Sword stars Astrid Bergès-Frisbey as Guinevere, Djimon Hounsou as loyal Bedivere and Eric Bana as Arthur’s father, King Uther Pendragon. The film is the first in a planned series, so other Arthurian staples like Merlin, Lancelot and Morgen Le Fay will presumably appear later.

We're not sure how we feel about a King Arthur without all the pomp and circumstance, but Charlie Hunnam kicking ass and swinging a big sword is welcoming on our screen any day.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword hits theaters on March 24, 2017.
