Kirk Cameron Was Edited To Look Homophobic In Awful Anti-Gay Documentary

Despite spending the last few decades spreading anti-gay propaganda that denounces LGBTs as curable sinners, former child actor Kirk Cameron says he doesn't really believe that "god hates fags" even though he was filmed saying as much on at least one occasion.

Cameron casually dropped the "god hates fags" bomb in a pro-Christian mini-doc he appeared in 20 years ago, and the footage only went viral last week following the release of Cameron's latest garbage film, Saving Christmas.

Today, TMZ reports the clip in question was actually edited to make it seem as though Kirk Cameron was personally dispensing the slur, even though original footage clearly shows him hypothetically referencing the slur as something an extreme fundamental Christian would say — he was most likely discussing the Westboro Baptist Church at the time:

The video in question was shot 15-20 years ago. Cameron was talking to a friend about the right wing of the church, saying how revolting it was that some of them would say such a thing.

A company called Deeper Understanding grossly misrepresented what Cameron said by editing the clip to make it look like he owned the sentiment. Check out the video below.

We spoke with a rep from Deeper Understanding, who acknowledged the editing was deceptive, but the rep believes that's really how Cameron feels so it's a case of no harm, no foul.

Living Waters Publications, owner of the original footage, has pulled all copies of the clip from YouTube.
