Know Your Instagrammer: Michael Snipe Jr.
Last week we introduced you to photographer Dusty St. Amand and this week, in our second go-round of "Know Your Instagrammer," we're spotlighting performer Michael Snipe Jr.
As a Julliard graduate, Snipe Jr. has appeared on Broadway as well as danced for Ailey 2 and Twyla Tharp. These days, he's working in dance education as well as his side hobby as a "self-proclaimed comedian"
Below, we chat with Michael Snipe Jr./@msjr11.
NewNowNext: In the simplest terms, what is the difference between you, Michael Snipe Jr. and @msjr11?
Michael Snipe Jr.: On Instagram, I only show one side of me: That’s the party, funny and crazy side. There is no real difference, but it isn’t all of me. I don’t post much of my passion, which is education. I am a teacher by day and a party animal by night/Instragram.

Who is your Instagram account catered toward?
My Instagram is catered toward gay men and those that love 'em. I have no shame. I post what I want to see… Half naked men.
Would you ever delete a photo if it wasn’t getting enough ‘likes’?
NEVER. That is insane. I have turned off notification alerts because it kills my battery. So once I throw it out there, I rarely revisit it.

The first 10 minutes after you post a photo, what do you do? Are you constantly refreshing?
If a friend sends me a message saying that there is a grammar error, or they have commented and want a response, I’ll go back, but I rarely refresh. I POST A LOT OF PHOTOS.
When is the best time of day to post a photo?
For me, I do most of my postings when I’m out dancing, drinking or “being social." I get the irony there. If I’m busy posting to Instagram, how am I being social? I like multitasking.

Do you think there’s an element of narcissism or overindulgence to posting photos of oneself?
MOST CERTAINLY, but one mustn’t take these things seriously. I know I don’t. I think it’s fun, especially when you’re out and someone calls you by your Instagram name. I don’t judge people for posting photos of their kids, or their food or pets. Have fun. Post all the photos of a random building you like. It’s YOUR Instagram. Do what you want with it.
What are you doing when you’re not Instagramming?
Thinking about Instagram [Laughs]. No, I attend lots of concerts. I also travel a lot for work. I might pop into the occasional circuit party, but I am not a circuit queen. I love long bike rides and game night with friends. You can always catch me out dancing.
