Kurt Cobain Says He Thought He Was Gay In Just Discovered Interview: WATCH

It has been almost 20 years since the tragic death of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, but public interest in the singer is still stronger than ever. This is why the PBS series Blank on Blank went back to find old interviews with the icon, and uncovered one with Jon Savage from 1993 where Cobain revealed how he at one time thought he was gay.

Cobain told Savage:

I even thought that I was gay. I thought that might be the solution to my problem. Although I never experimented with it, I had a gay friend, and then my mother wouldn't allow me to be friends with him anymore, because she's homophobic. It was real devastating because finally I found a male friend who I actually hugged and was affectionate too, and we talked about a lot of things. I couldn't hang out with him anymore.

Cobain would of course go on to marry Courtney Love, but we can't imagine how brave and how much of a risk it was back then for someone so famous to actually say they even thought they were gay.
