Yes, Kylie Minogue's Going Country With Her New Single, "Dancing"—And We're Here For It

"Everybody's got a story/Let it be your blaze of glory."

She hasn't traded her booty shorts in for a Stetson hat, but Kylie Minogue has definitely gone country with her new single, "Dancing," the first track off her upcoming album Golden.

The artwork for Golden is giving us a honky-tonk feel, as well.

“I promised my fans that I would be putting my heart and soul into this record and I stayed true to my word," the Australian diva wrote on Instagram this week. I was able to do that, which was challenging, and fun, and rewarding."

“It’s ended up with a different direction for sure," she added, "but essentially I’d still say it’s very much a Kylie record.”

She wouldn't be the first Australian pop goddess to sew her country oats: Olivia Newton-John got her start as a C&W artist, too.

Kylie says "Dancing" is a celebratory track but one that, in true country fashion, acknowledges the road can be tough.

"Life can be difficult, life can present all kinds of hurdles... We try to dance through that when we can."

“I was a little bit fragile when I started working on this album,” she told BBC Radio 2’s Chris Evans of making Golden, which was partially inspired by her breakup with actor Joshua Sasse. “A lot of it was done in Nashville, and that taught me about putting more story into the song."

Listing to "Dancing" below. Golden will be released on April 6.
