Lady Gaga Postpones “Chromatica” Album Release Due to Coronavirus

"I had so many fun things planned for us to celebrate together..."

Lady Gaga hive, we’ve got sad news for you: Mother Monster has officially suspended all travel to and from Chromatica.

The pop diva took to Twitter Tuesday to announce her revised plans for the release of Chromatica, her sixth studio album, amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Originally, the record was slated to drop in April; now, Gaga has postponed its release to an unannounced date later in the year, meaning fans will having to wait at least a few months for more tunes from the “Stupid Love” singer.

“This is such a hectic and scary time for all of us,” Gaga wrote, “and while I believe art is one of the strongest things we have to provide joy and healing to each other during times like this, it just doesn’t feel right to me to release this album with all that is going on during this global pandemic.”

The singer also noted that her Vegas shows from April 30–May 11 were canceled by MGM amid concerns about the virus, and as per official guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The “secret Coachella set” she’d planned is now off, too, since the iconic music festival was postponed until October.

However, she added that tour dates for her “Chromatica ball,” which begin this summer, are still on as of now.

Gaga ended her statement by assuring fans that “Chromatica is still very much on the way, and I can’t wait”:

To my fans, I love you. I know you are disappointed. Probably angry and sad. But I also know that as a fan base…as a family…we are strong, we are loving, and we are the kindness punks. So I ask you all to practice that kindness in these trying times.

I hope you can see that when the album does come out, I want us to be able to dance together, sweat together, hug and kiss together… And until that time comes, LET’S ALL STAY HOME!

Hey—if you won’t listen to the CDC, take a cue from Mother Monster herself and minimize physical contact with others.
