In the gay world fashion is not a spectator sport—and if you can get your shopping fix while doing good for the community, it’s a home run.
Housing Works, a New York HIV/AIDS charity, is hosting its annual Fashion For Action designer event on November 20, when more than 250 top clothiers will put exclusive wares on sale, with proceeds going toward essential services for LGBT people and those affected by HIV/AIDS.
Asher Levine—who has created traffic-stopping looks for Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Will.i.am—is being spotlighted in this year’s Fashion For Action benefit, so NewNowNext sashayed down to his Tribeca studio to talk about his fashion sense and commitment to the cause of battling HIV/AIDS.
We brought along several Housing Works clients, and Asher was sweet enough to give them a free style makeover—and give us a peek at the kind of outre frocks he’s donated to Fashion For Action. Check out the glamourous transformations, and learn a little about Housing Works and Fashion For Action, above. Below, check out photos from the styling session.
