Lady Gaga and Glenn Close Tied at the 2019 Critic's Choice Awards
Awards season is getting more dramatic by the day.
Last night at the 24th Annual Critic's Choice Awards, in a surprise tie, Lady Gaga and Glenn Close both took home the Best Actress award, for A Star is Born and The Wife, respectively.
"The world pits us against each other in this profession. I think I can speak for all of the women in the room, we celebrate each other," Close said during her acceptance speech.
Shockingly, their tie wasn't the only one of the night—Amy Adams and Patricia Arquette also tied for Best Actress in a Limited Series in the TV categories.
In keeping with the Golden Globe wins, Mahershala Ali won Best Supporting Actor for his role in Green Book, and If Beale Street Could Talk’s Regina King won Best Supporting Actress, pretty much securing them Oscar nominations when they are announced next week.
The Assassination of Gianni Versace won Best Limited Series, while Darren Criss took home the Best Actor award for his role as Versace's killer, Andrew Cunanan.
Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Favourite led this year's Critic's Choice Awards with 14 nominations, but it was Roma that walked away the biggest winner of the night with four wins, including Best Picture and Best Director.
