Lady Gaga superfans were blown away last night at the singer’s “artRave,” where she launched her new album, ARTPOP, with a live concert, sculptures by Jeff Koons and various performance-art pieces.
Guests were ferried to Brooklyn’s Navy Yard for a unique “listening party” that was livestreamed on Vevo. Close to 1am, a mysterious figure in a white face mask emerged at the back of the venue and was whisked on stage. It was Gaga, who led a troupe of dancers through songs like “Gypsy,” “Applause” and “Donatella,” an ode to designer Donatella Versace.
Never one to miss a chance to make a spectacle, Gaga also buzzed around in a hovercraft dress designed by Volantis. Of course, the partygoers were half the fun, with many dolled up in outre regalia that Mother Monster would certainly approve of.
