Lady Gaga’s “Donatella” And 8 More Songs About Fashion Designers

Lady Gaga Sightings In Milan - October 1, 2012

Lady Gaga’s upcoming single “Donatella” was welcomed by Lady Versace, who thanked Mother Monster in an email: “I would like to thank Gaga for her geniality, creativity, incredible talent and super bitchiness. I am honored to be her friend and of course I love the song! Love, DV.”

The song isn’t due until the release of ARTPOP later this fall, but it’s not the first time Gaga has given love to a designer in a track: She namechecked Alexander McQueen in “Fashion For His Love”, and cited labels like Fendi, Prada and Valentino in “Fashion,” which appeared on the Confessions of Shopaholic soundtrack

Since it’s Fashion Week, we thought we’d take a look at some of the lyrical love top music acts have given to designers—like Jay-Z’s “Tom Ford.” “Who would not be flattered to have an entire Jay-Z track named after them?” Ford told WWD. “It’s a kind of validation of one’s work—it means that one has really penetrated and made an impact on popular culture.”

At this rate, we expect namechecks of Elie Tahari and Esteban Cortázar on Roar!
