Lady Gaga FAME Perfume

She gave us Maria Von Trapp realness last weekend at the Oscars, but now comes word Lady Gaga is returning to her macabre roots in a role in the upcoming fifth season of American Horror Story.

Mother Monster will be a series regular in the new season, being dubbed American Horror Story: Hotel. She tweeted the news today, though its not clear what kind of character she’d play.

We kind of hope its something against type, like a uptight concierge or kleptomaniac housekeeper.

Gaga previously appeared in Robert Rodriguez’s Machete Kills  and Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For. “She would be fantastic,” Rodriguez told E!. “The camera loves her. She’s a great performer. She’s performed twice for me now and I was blown away by her discipline. She studied acting before she became a singer and you could really tell.”

The “Applause” singer does have an AHS connection, having lent Ryan Murphy a number of her songs for use on Glee.

As much as a musical talent as she is, though, we hope Murphy doesn’t make Gaga sing on the show. After Freak Show, the musical numbers are wearing thin.
