Lady SinAGaga Is Crowned New York's "Best in Drag"

The Hebrew diva was belle of the ball at AIDS Service Center NYC's annual pageant.

It wasn't Purim, but a resplendent Jewish maiden was still crowned queen last night at AIDS Service Center NYC's "Best in Drag" benefit, where Lady SinAGaga fought off fierce competition to snatch victory.

Competitors, including Bobbi Soxx, Destiny Devine, Holly Box-Springs, Jackie Cox, Machine Dazzle, Mistress Wolverinna, Olive d’Nightlife, Sasha Pierce Davenport and Strawberry Fields showed off their performance skills and sparkly gowns, and answered tricky questions to demonstrate their intellectual agility.

A Chorus Line star Donna McKechnie and NY1’s Frank DiLella hosted the affair, which was held at FIT. They were joined by the show’s director, choreographer Robert Lafosse, and 2015’s "Best in Drag" winner, Delighted, Tobehere. "I’m here to give up the crown”, she joked at the pre-event reception.

"We wanted to do something that was accessible to the whole community, that celebrated diversity," said ASCNYC's Sharen Duke. "We, as an organization, promote positive change, and we felt 'What better expression of transformation than drag?'"

Proceeds from the event support ASCNYC programs, which provide medical care and housing and other essential services to low-income New Yorkers living with HIV.
