Lana Del Rey Releases Haunting "Once Upon A Dream" From "Maleficent": LISTEN

Lana Del Rey has delivered a haunting version of Sleeping Beauty's ballad "Once Upon A Dream" for Maleficent starring Angelina Jolie, who reportedly handpicked the singer to cover the song, originally sung by Mary Costa in the 1959 movie.

"Angelina and the film’s producers think Lana is perfect to breathe new life into an old classic," a source told the Daily Mail, adding that Jolie had been "incredibly active" in all aspects of the movie—even getting daughter Vivienne a role as young Aurora.

The song was officially released during the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, where Lana was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album for Paradise and for "Young and Beautiful" from The Great Gatsby. (It was also featured in a new Maleficent trailer that aired during the Grammys.)

Listen to it below.

For a limited time, "Once Upon a Dream" is available as a free audio download.
