In an interview this week, former boy-bander Lance Bass said that it's likely one of the members of One Direction is gay—but that coming out could be harder for them than for a pro athlete like Jason Collins.

“Statistically speaking… one of them probably is [gay]," Bass, 33, told David Rubin of The Rubin Report. "But it’s crazy with a market like that, because [it’s] 100% young women and they fantasize about these guys.  And then you have the record labels and everyone grooming you to make sure you don’t even mention you have a girlfriend. So screw the fact that you are going to come out as being gay – it ruins their whole business plan.”

While there's definitely pressure to remain in the closet, things have improved: Jaymi Hensley of The British boy band Union J has been out since the band debuted on X Factor.
