Lance Bass Came Out to Britney Spears on Her Wedding Night

This story is bonkers.

If there’s one thing Andy Cohen is good at, it’s getting his celebrity guests to spill juicy tidbits while sippin’ cocktails in the Watch What Happens Live clubhouse.

On the latest episode of Andy’s late night chatfest, his guests were Chrissy Metz from This Is Us and Lance Bass of *NSYNC fame.

After Andy brings up the fact that Britney Spears was one of the first people Lance ever came out to, Lance proceeds to tell a wild story about exactly when he told Britney he was gay—on her (first) wedding night!

“It was the night that she got married the first time in Vegas to Jason Alexander,” Lance recalls. “So I went up to Vegas to kind of see the craziness that was happening, and she was a little upset once she realized what she had done because, you know—at first—it was a funny thing.”

Lance then reveals how he and Britney went up to her hotel room, where the two sat on her bed as she cried uncontrollably. “So I was like, ’I’m gay,'” says Lance. “And it made her stop crying… She chuckled.”

Britney met Lance at the beginning of her pop career when she opened for *NSYNC on the road. The two became so close, he came out to her two years before he officially told the rest of the world in 2006. Isn’t that what friends are for?

I write about drag queens. Dolly Parton once ruffled my hair and said I was "just the cutest thing ever."
