Latrice Royale And Morgan McMichaels Team Up To Save A London Drag Institution

The Black Cap, a beloved London gay bar and drag institution, closed unexpectedly on April 12—reportedly so owners can convert the space into luxury apartments.

Fans of the club, which first opened its doors in 1751 and began attracting gay crowds in 1965, are up in arms—including  Drag Race alums Latrice Royale and Morgan McMichaels, who calling on you to help save the Black Cap.

"That is family right there for me," declared Latrice in a video the pair uploaded to YouTube. "When I was there, it was my home away from home and we had a beautiful holiday celebration there."

The two queens have both performed at the venue, and believe it is "one of the pillars of the community."

"So many fierce English and Scottish girls are there," said Morgan, "and drag is just blooming in the UK, so we have to save somewhere that lets the girls perform."

The two are urging friends and allies to don black caps, use #WeAreTheBlackCap on social media, and sign a Change.org petition calling for the club's reopening.
