Laverne Cox and Angela Bassett Teach Us the Dos and Don'ts of Being a Bad Bitch

Good news: HBO's "A Black Lady Sketch Show" is queer, inclusive, and hilarious.

It took only 70 years, but television finally gave black ladies a sketch comedy show, and by the looks of the first episode, we're in for a treat. Created by comedian Robin Thede and executive produced by Issa Rae (Insecure), HBO's A Black Lady Sketch Show premiered on Friday. It's inclusive, it's queer, and, most important, it's hilarious.

The series premiere featured a who's who of bad bitchery with cameos from Kelly Rowland, Gina Torres, Laverne Cox, and OG bad bitch Angela Bassett.

Cox and Bassett starred as HBICs in a support group for ladies doing it for their damn selves. Because it's hard! One BB (Gabrielle Dennis) is having second thoughts about her badness, dreaming of one day sitting down without a waist trainer, and Laverne is… less than supportive.

Leave it to Mother Bassett, however, to impart some true wisdom to the group.

Honestly, this is advice we can all live by.

Another sketch featured Thede as a spurned thot trying to get back at her ex. That ex could easily have been a man, but we're in a lesbian club and Thede's former boo is actually a real fuckgirl.

And what starts out as a good old-fashioned lesbian dance-off—

—takes an unexpected turn involving an alien who is also a bit of a thot. While fuckery is apparently universal, the real takeaway from this sketch is that Khia's "My Neck, My Back" will always slap—even across galaxies.

A Black Lady Sketch Show airs Fridays at 11 p.m. ET on HBO.
