Laverne Cox Opens Up About New Boyfriend: “I’m in Love”

"Love is life-saving," says the Emmy nominee.

Actress-activist Laverne Cox has revealed she’s been in a serious relationship for the past eight months, and is even using the “L word” to describe her boyfriend.

On Access Hollywood, The Orange Is the New Black star revealed she met her boyfriend, as so many do, on Tinder.

“Honestly, I’m a Tinder girl,” she said. “When I broke up with my ex, I went back on Tinder, because I feel like if you want to date, you have to be on the apps. You have to be on the apps to be in the game.”

Guys do recognize her online, the Emmy nominee admits, but she insists “you have to take the risk.”

“I’m really good at screening,” she added. “I’ve been Internet dating for a very long time.”

On their first date, Cox went sans makeup and wore jean shorts.

“I was like, I’m not going to put all this effort… into a guy that I don’t know yet,” she explained. “You might not look like your pictures, you might smell.”

But her beau went for the low-key look and things are moving along steadily for the pair, who have even met each other’s parents.

“it’s amazing,” Cox, host of Lifetime’s Glam Masters, says of the relationship. “I’m in love. It’s incredible, it really is. It’s like love is so incredibly healing.”

“I’m just so happy,” she added “When you’re happy, you kind of want to like… love is life-saving.”
