Lesbian Couple Wins Dream Wedding Atop Empire State Building

Fabiana Faria and Helena Barquet will be married on Valentine's Day.

Two lucky women will tie the knot this Valentine's Day at the Empire State Building.

Fabiana Faria and Helena Barquet have been selected as one of two winning couples in the New York City landmark's 25th annual Valentine's Day wedding contest, which was open to the iconic building's international admirers.

Faria and Barquet, co-owners of Manhattan home goods store Coming Soon, previously worked together in the design industry and fell in love seven years ago. Faria, who grew up in Venezuela, proposed to Barquet at the Plaza Hotel.

New Yorkers Nachiket Patel and Chitra Pathak, originally from Mumbai, also won a sky-high wedding.

The 15-minute ceremonies will take place the morning of February 14 on the famous 86th floor Observatory, which boasts 360-degree views of New York.

"With over 1,000 entries from both near and far, it's evident that the storied history and romance surrounding the Empire State Building continue to touch lives around the globe," says Observatory vice president Jean-Yves Ghazi in a statement. "I'm excited to officiate at the weddings for Helena and Fabiana as well as Chitra and Nachiket, and continue this tradition for its 25th year."

The brides will be gifted dresses of their choice from Kleinfeld Bridal's and receive other prize packages.

LGBTQ weddings added $1.6 billion to the national economy during the year after the Supreme Court legalized marriage equality nationwide, according to a 2016 report from Williams Institute on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Law and Public Policy.
