Lesbian Couple Recounts Honeymoon Nightmare In Mexico: "My Wife Was Called A F*cking Dyke"

Resort staff reportedly destroyed their property and refused to serve them after finding out they were married.

A newlywed couple flew to a five-star resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico to celebrate their marriage, but instead, they say they spent the trip battling homophobic abuse from hotel staff.

Emma Louise Morris and her new bride Jo told Daily Mail that once the staff at the Grand Bahia Principe Tulum Resort found out the women were married, they began to treat them horribly, with one even referring to Jo as a "fucking dyke."

"We were ignored at the restaurant and we weren't allowed to get our own drinks. We would make contact with various waiters, raise our hands, but they either went to a table that arrived after us or just simply stood at the bar and didn't serve us," Emma told MailOnline.

"My wife had to go to the bar to ask for drinks but was often told she must sit down and wait to be served," she added. "This happened at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The bar staff at the pool bar told my wife that she can't have what she wanted to drink and must have 'what she's given,' which is not something you expect to hear at a five-star all-inclusive hotel."

Emma also claimed that the staff broke her hair straighteners and hid them under a chair in the room, while Jo allegedly ended up with a shard of glass in her foot after the staff refused to clean up a broken ashtray on their balcony.

The women say the worst part, however, was when staff actually started to use homophobic slurs.

"The most shocking part of the whole honeymoon was my wife being called a fucking dyke by a waiter at the hotel," Morris said. "We are genuinely so upset we don't have happy memories from our honeymoon and we can never get that back."

MailOnline said it reached out to Grand Bahia Principe Tulum Resort for a comment and is still waiting for a response.
