Leslie Jordan Will Pounce Back on TV in “Call Me Kat”

The Fox sitcom will also star Cheyenne Jackson.

How many lives does Leslie Jordan have?

His Fox sitcom The Cool Kids was canceled last year after one season, but the 64-year-old actor will claw his way back to the network in the upcoming sitcom Call Me Kat, a straight-to-series remake of the BBC series Miranda, TVLine reports.

The Big Bang Theory’s Mayim Bialik stars as a 39-year-old woman named Kat, “who struggles every day against society and her mother to prove that you can not have everything you want and still be happy. That’s why she spent the money her parents set aside for her wedding to open a cat café in Louisville, Kentucky.”

Jordan, who is currently winning quarantine with his hilarious self-isolation Instagram videos, will play one of Kat’s employees, Phil, who bakes pastries at the cat café. Kat helps him recover from recent breakup with his longtime partner.

Helmed by The Big C creator Darlene Hunt, Call Me Kat will also star Cheyenne Jackson, Swoosie Kurtz, and Kyla Pratt.

Bialik, Jim Parsons, and Miranda creator-star Miranda Hart are among the show’s executive producers.

“I’ve been added to the cast of Call Me Kat,” Jordan proudly announced this week in an Insta video. “Not a pilot, baby. Straight-to-series order… I hope I don’t fuck up.”

Jordan, beloved for his Emmy-winning performance as Beverley Leslie on Will & Grace, will appear in its I Love Lucy tribute episode, which airs April 9 on NBC.

His other TV credits include American Horror StoryHearts Afire, and Sordid Lives: The Series.
