Lewis Black Reads Epic Resignation From 18-Year-Old Fed Up With Mormon Church

Well put.

The Mormon Church recently released harsh new guidelines concerning LGBT people: Anyone in a same-sex marriage is to be treated as an apostate, and their children are forbidden from being baptized until they turn 18 and basically renounce their parents.

The announcement has led to many LGBT and ally Mormons leaving the church this weekend in a mass protest.

One young man who can't even with the Mormons anymore wanted to resign earlier, but was told he couldn't until he turned 18—even though the LDS church doctrine claims his baptism at age 8 meant he'd reached the age of consent.

He wrote a letter that's essentially a laundry list of everything wrong with the Church over the years, including the institutional racism and homophobia.

Lewis Black read his letter at a show in Oklahoma City last weekend, and its brilliant. It's also angry comedy gold.
