Words are important – Sesame Street told us so. And an advocacy group in London is hoping that “Gender And Sexual Diversities” (or GSD) could replace “LGBT.”
Why? Because, according to Pink Therapy director Dominic Davies, “LGBT” isn’t quite inclusive enough, leaving out “a whole batch of people who didn’t feel able to go to mainstream counseling organizations and also wouldn’t necessarily be welcome at LGBT counseling organizations,” including asexual people and others in non-traditional relationships.
We’re all for inclusion, and we hope that Pink Therapy is successful in its quest. And hopefully the US will follow suit – England and the US already have enough weird different words for things.
