Life of Gay, Disabled Blogger Ryan O'Connell Being Developed Into Major Network Sitcom

Ryan O’Connell, the self-described "writer and professional feeler of emotions," first became a popular internet fixture with Thought Catalog think-pieces including "Why Being Gay Is Gay" and "What It Feels Like To Get F***ed In The Ass."

He buoyed his internet popularity into authoring I’m Special: And Other Lies We Tell Ourselves, which throughout the process morphed from a kitschy coffee table book into an examination of the journey to accepting a long-hidden secret: Ryan suffers from cerebral palsy disorder.

"I can write about literally shitting on [a guy's dick] or what it feels like to be fucked in the ass but God forbid I talk about having a limp—that everyone can see," O'Connell told Vice when asked why he'd previously skirted the subject "It made no sense, but the things that you don't like about yourself often don't make sense."

And now, proving in spades the only adage 'the truth will set you free', Warner Bros has acquired the TV rights for I’m Special and is currently developing it as a half-hour sitcom which O'Connell will write and executive produce along with Jim Parsons and Parson's boyfriend Todd Spiewak. John Riggi (The Comeback and 30 Rock) will serve as a supervising producer.

It's not O'Connell's first time working behind the scenes on the small screen–He's currently a writer on MTV's Awkward, whose fifth and final season debuts later this summer.

It is however a major coup for the young bon vivant, who's effectively using his talents to both bring visibility and shatter misconceptions about being out as a homosexual gay man living with cerebral palsy.

It's so sad how straight men are terrified of the two things that could bring them the most pleasure in life: shorts and their asshole.
