Lil Nas X Fulfills Gay Jock Fantasies in "That's What I Want" Music Video

Plus a "Brokeback Mountain" reference and a cameo from Billy Porter.

I don't know about you, but I want Lil Nas X.

The out rapper's "bussy water" finally broke this Friday (September 17), when he birthed his debut album, Montero, after what felt like the longest gestation period ever. But the highly anticipated record wasn't the 22-year-old's only release. Ahead of the midnight drop, Nas X also premiered the music video for "That's What I Want," the fourth song off Montero. And he did not disappoint.

Like Nas X's previous visuals for "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" and "Industry Baby," "That's What I Want" is unapologetically queer. The video opens with a football player Nas X catapulting onto the field from the sky and being wheeled back to the locker room — but not before exchanging some covert glances with another male hottie on his team. The two lock lips in the locker room in a steamy hookup montage. (The video also clearly shows them using a condom. Yay for safe sex!)

But wait, there's more! The music video then segues into a Brokeback Mountain-esque camping scene, with Nas X cuddling and stroking his lover in a tent in an unmistakable reference to the classic queer film.

We don't want to give it all away, but the next scene marks a heart-wrenching turning point...and leads to a powerful cameo from Pose star Billy Porter. Come for the shirtless hotties, and stay for Nas X's impressive emotional range. He did take home Video of the Year at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards, after all.
