Listen: V V Brown’s New Single “Children”

Brit singer V V Brown must have a thing for ice cream trucks. She sure certainly loves kids. And Chiddy Bang. And she’s combined her affinity for all of these things with her new single “Children” that samples the jangly kids’ classic tune (known by names like “Do Your Ears Hang Low” or “Turkey in the Straw” if you’re from the South) and weaves it into the underlying melody for stompy pop tune.

Get a listen to the tune, and watch a very cute behind-the-scenes video (which features Chiddy Bang, British schoolchildren, and lovely B&W footage).

Below, you can get a taste of Brown’s “Children” in this very cute homemade video clip, as Brown plays with remix ideas for the song.

And just so you know, Brown’s “Children” has a message:
“['Children'] was written about a generation that has uninspiring aspirations and believes material wealth is what happiness is. You have to give people a voice. Everyone has to be heard, because otherwise they will make themselves heard.”

Let the children sing, y’all!

And while we’re at it… Our pal Arjan over at ArjanWrites is going to serve up some exclusive V V Brown music goods starting next Tuesday, so be sure to visit him, too.
