Liz Cheney Set To Run For Congress A Second Time

Although she has a gay sister, Cheney is strongly opposed to same-sex marriage.

Despite extremely low numbers during her attempt at a Senate campaign three years ago, Liz Cheney, daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, is once again trying to secure a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Cheney's run in 2013 created controversy because of her vigorous stance against same-sex marriage, despite having a sister who is a lesbian.

"I am strongly pro-life and I am not pro-gay marriage," Cheney declared.

She also shared that she felt "the issue of marriage must be decided by the states, and by the people in the states, not by judges and not even by legislators, but by the people themselves."

At the time, her sister Mary took to Facebook to respond to her sibling's anti-LGBT views, writing, "Liz, this isn’t just an issue on which we disagree. You’re just wrong — and on the wrong side of history.”

Liz Cheney reportedly filed federal election documents proving she’s running for Wyoming’s only seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, and is expected to make the official announcement on Monday.
